Before you start, let me warn you. This post is quite a long one (I hate long post too) but I had to spit it out like this because the post ideas were busy choking me so please bear with me.
The internet has made access to information reachable to everyone. You can find whatever you want right now with a simple search on Google.
But …wait a minute. Is that true? Is that exactly so? I think not.
The internet has also brought a new problem.
The problem is now how to find the exact information relevant to what you want. The problem of Information overload stares us in the face every day when we make a search. Finding exactly what you want is now very daunting.
Just do a simple search for blogging tips on Google and you will understand what I mean. That single search can bring you 200 millions results of the good, bad and ugly. Mostly links to crap you do not need.
Even if you try to reduce the number by using some search tricks. You will still have too much information. Lots of crap.
But here is the sweet part.
This problem is now bringing in hard cash to some individuals and companies.
Companies who help people wade through the pile of rubbish and find exactly what they are looking for are making a killing.
These companies or individuals own what we all know as aggregators.
An aggregator is a website that brings together or congregates a certain type of information, or brings together information from similar sources or brings together information in the same format.
(Hope my definition didn’t sound like crap)
Basically, aggregators bring together information or stuff that has something in common.
Bottom line is, aggregators help us find what we want online because they focus on smaller niches and narrower searches.
They also save our time online.
AGGREGATORS YOU ARE ALREADY USING
Aggregators are not a new concept. You are already using a few already.
Here they are.
1. Google
If you never knew it, Google is the biggest aggregator on the internet. Imagine how you would find information on the internet without it. The problem is that the internet has grown so big now .Google results are no more very efficient any more.
This is why other smaller aggregators are striving. Google will easily help you find these other smaller aggregators.
Other search engines like Bing, Ask and more are in this category too.
Other aggregators are:
2. Amazon
It aggregates products for sale on the internet.
3. Forum Aggregators
There are many websites that aggregates forums on the internet. They help people finds forums. Even forums are small aggregators aggregating people of the same ideas, interests and inclinations.
4. Social Bookmarking Websites
Digg, Delicious, Reddit, Plurk, Fark and many more are all aggregators.
5. Blog Aggregators
These are websites that bring blogs together. It helps people find them easily and helps they blogs with traffic in return.
I just joined a new one called BlogEngage and love every second of it. It aggregates all topics published by blogs and helps people find information and build traffic.
This websites are have the potential of making loads of cash because they are helping many people.
There are many other aggregators but lets skip to the part of this post that I love the most.
START YOU OWN AGGREGATOR
Like Google, some of these aggregators will one day be inefficient. Some of them are already growing too big and people are now searching again through lots of unwanted crap.
The problem of information overload is setting in again and will set in again. This will happen because more people are coming online with their junks in the trunk.
WHY DON’T YOU START AN AGGREGATOR
Yes you, don’t look away. I mean you reading this post. Why don’t you start an aggregator?
Why don’t you help others find information easily online?
It will make you money too.
See, the cool thing about aggregators.
- You don’t have to write content. People write while you present it to others to find easily.
IDEAS FOR AGGREGATING WEBSITES
Now the old aggregators are getting too big. Why don’t you start an aggregating website for specific blogging topics ?
- 1. Aggregate blogs or post discussing SEO for blogs and other SEO matters
- Aggregate blogs or blog posts that discuss stuff on WordPress plug-ins
- Aggregate blogs or blog posts that discuss marketing
These are just examples, you can think of better ones.
You can aggregate blogs that talk about crap if you like but the bottom line is, aggregating smaller, specific topics and subject on the internet will pay off because it will make life easier for people.
Just make sure you are aggregating information people want or are already searching for or will search for.
TOP BLOGGERS WITH AGGREGATING WEBSITES
Just to ginger your swagger, here are 2 top bloggers who own aggregating websites.
The whole idea in this post is to open our eyes to the opportunity that comes when problems abound.
If you ask me, I don’t have one yet but I have lots of ideas for one and is working on bringing one to life.
What are your ideas, what do you think. Drop a comment.

Hey Josh, thanks for the comment and compliment.
