BEING DIFFERENT, LESSONS FROM CNN

One of my favorite stations on satellite TV right now is CNN. This wasn’t the case some years ago. Not that I didn’t like CNN or anything, after all, they are the number news and breaking news channel on satellite TV.
True that.
It’s just that I couldn’t watch the news all day when there was another station called MTV where I could watch a music video with a dozen chicks shaking their butts off. It was boring to watch CNN repeat stale news 4 times in 24 hours. I couldn’t, bear it.
I only watched CNN a few minutes a day just to stay abreast with news around the world.
That was it.

But now a day’s CNN is much more than that. It is redefining how we get news. It has redefined how news is presented. It is making me enjoy the news.

Take for instance the program, BACK STORY. To me, this is one of the most interesting programs on CNN and the most interesting way of presenting the news I have seen yet. It tells the back story behind the news. The raw, uncut, uncensored and irrelevant activities and events that happened before we got the refined news are usually presented in this program.
Kind of like a reality show of news broadcasting.
This is a complete departure from the normal and accepted way of producing and presenting news. It completely goes against the way things are done in broadcasting.
The normal thing in broadcasting, like I see in other channels, is to only show the refined, edited and cleaned up parts of the gathered news.
They raw dirty, unedited and irrelevant parts that came before or during the recording, gathering and broadcast of the news are usually cut and thrown away.
BACKSTORY took a complete opposite path and now I love every second of it.

So How Can You Use This In Your Blog, Business, Ideas And Life.

Most times the opposite, conflicting, against the norm, radical, unaccepted ways of doing stuff gets appreciated and noticed.
Just try this simple exercise.
Next time you want to do something. Write out all the normal and accepted ways it can be done.
Then write out the opposite, unaccepted ways.
Try out one of these opposite and unaccepted ways; it might just be the magic you need to achieve success in that activity.
Please share your thoughts.
